China Calls For Peaceful Solution Of IO Kashmir, On the Tuesday, China responded with vigor to the landmark decision by the Indian Supreme Court to revoke the special status of Kashmir.

In a pronounced statement, the Chinese government emphasized the imperative of settling the Kashmir issue through peaceful means, aligning with the principles articulated in the United Nations Charter, Security Council resolutions, and the pertinent bilateral agreements inked between India and Pakistan.

The spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Mao Ning, delivered an unequivocal stance during her routine press briefing at the International Press Center (IPC). She reiterated China’s unwavering and coherent position on the Kashmir dispute, characterizing it as a historical remnant between India and Pakistan that demands a judicious and amicable resolution, guided by the tenets of the UN charter, UNSC resolutions, and the relevant bilateral accords.

Notably, the Indian Supreme Court’s decision, announced on December 11, garnered attention and sparked controversy, as it endorsed the unilateral move by the BJP government to alter the status of the Jammu and Kashmir region. This move, as asserted by China, constituted a blatant contravention of UNSC resolution 122, which explicitly determined that any final settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir issue should be facilitated through a UN-supervised plebiscite.

Mao Ning, responding to inquiries from the press, emphasized the imperative for relevant parties to engage in dialogues and consultations to address the Kashmir dispute, underscoring the overarching goal of maintaining peace and stability in the region. This call for peaceful resolution comes amidst the backdrop of escalating tensions and concerns raised by Kashmiri leaders, who vehemently rejected the Indian Supreme Court’s decision.
