Government Investigating Imran Khan’s Letter To IMF

On Friday, the Foreign Office Spokesperson, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, officially confirmed that an investigation has been initiated by the Prime Minister’s Office into a letter submitted by Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) to the International Monetary Fund (IMF). In the course of the weekly briefing held on the same day, the spokesperson provided additional insights into Pakistan’s diplomatic engagements.

Amidst ongoing diplomatic discussions, Foreign Secretary Saira Sajjad Qazi reiterated Pakistan’s resolute commitment to upholding human rights, both domestically and on the international stage, during the 55th session of the Human Rights Council. This commitment was further emphasized in the context of collaboration with the United Nations Human Rights Mechanism, underscoring Pakistan’s dedication to safeguarding human rights globally.

Moreover, the Foreign Secretary called upon the High Commissioner’s Office to closely monitor the concerning human rights situation in India’s illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. This appeal for the establishment of an inquiry commission reflects Pakistan’s unwavering advocacy for the rights of Kashmiris.

In response to recent events, Pakistan expressed strong condemnation for the tragic incident where Israeli forces carried out a massacre against innocent Palestinians, who were awaiting essential food supplies and life-saving medicines.

Continuing the diplomatic discourse, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch reiterated Pakistan’s objection to India’s decision to ban factions of the Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference. Pakistan urged India to lift the ban imposed on eight Kashmiri parties, emphasizing the significance of inclusivity and dialogue in resolving regional issues.

In addressing inquiries, the spokesperson disclosed that the Prime Minister’s Office is actively investigating the letter authored by PTI to the IMF. This move reflects the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

Shifting focus to energy matters, significant progress was made by the federal cabinet’s energy committee concerning the Pak-Iran gas pipeline project. Demonstrating the prioritization of energy acquisition, Pakistan acknowledged the strategic importance of the project. The committee’s approval of the initial phase, involving the construction of an 80 km pipeline in Pakistan, highlights the nation’s proactive approach to fulfilling its energy needs.
