The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative aimed at empowering freelancers as Govt is set to Support Freelancers By Offering Interest-free Loans.
This strategic move is designed to revolutionize the freelance landscape by providing financial assistance of Rs100,000 to each freelancer, enabling them to establish their own e-working centers. The initiative addresses a critical challenge faced by freelancers – the lack of adequate workplaces.
Despite approximately 1.5 million freelancers having undergone government training, many still encounter obstacles in acquiring essential resources such as computers and dedicated workspaces. To overcome this hurdle, the government has allocated Rs50 billion for the establishment of private-sector co-working spaces, benefitting half a million freelancers nationwide. The primary objective is not only to provide necessary infrastructure but also to create an ecosystem that fosters creativity and productivity.
The significance of this initiative lies in its potential to significantly enhance the economic contribution of freelancers. With the support of interest-free loans, each freelancer has the opportunity to earn up to $30,000 annually, making a substantial and direct contribution to the national economy.
