USA Reportedly To Help Israel Against Iran’s Retaliation. According to officials, the United States might step in to provide assistance to Israel in safeguarding itself against a potential attack from Iran. This statement was made on Thursday during a briefing, wherein officials also suggested the possibility of the US engaging in any counteroffensive actions, thereby raising the specter of a direct clash not only between Israel and Iran but also involving the United States.

The briefing, disclosed to the Qatar-based broadcaster Al Jazeera, outlined the US’s belief that Iran is poised to launch a retaliatory strike following the Israeli assault on the Iranian consulate in Damascus on April 1. Notably, the attack in Damascus resulted in the demise of seven high-ranking military personnel, including two Iranian Revolutionary Guards generals.

In addition to indicating potential military involvement, US officials revealed that they had been urging foreign ministers in the region to apply pressure on Iran, advocating for restraint. This move comes amid escalating tensions and heightened diplomatic efforts across various nations, with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian engaging in consultations with counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Turkey, and Syria. Oman, serving as a key intermediary, is also involved in facilitating communication with the US.

Despite these developments, there remains uncertainty regarding the timing and nature of Iran’s potential response. While discussions have centered on the possibility of an attack on Israeli soil or the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, Iranian officials continue to emphasize diplomatic channels, with plans for Amir-Abdollahian to visit the United Nations headquarters in New York.

The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, reaffirmed Israel’s commitment to defending itself against any threats, underscoring a readiness to respond to aggression. Concurrently, global actors such as the Kremlin have urged restraint to prevent further escalation in the already volatile region.

Meanwhile, Iranian leaders, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, have issued stern warnings against Israel, asserting the need for repercussions. However, there is internal debate within Iran regarding the most effective course of action, with some skepticism regarding the immediacy of an impending attack.
